0 - 16 Week Development

Six weeks after conception, the baby is an identifiable human form.  The heart has been beating for three weeks and brain waves are detectable.  You can see the blood being pumped into the baby's heart.  The blood is flowing from the placenta through the umbilical cord into the liver.  The baby's ear, eyes, and the tiny hands and feet are clearly noticeable.

By eight weeks, the baby's arms and legs have grown longer, and the muscles have become evident.  The baby can feel and is actually capable of playing with the yoke sac.  The baby can spread its toes, move about and is very much alive.

Just twelve weeks after conception rapid growth takes place with the baby.  The baby sleeps, wakes, and can make a fist. The baby can hear sounds like laughter, and can even sense when mom is upset.

By sixteen weeks the baby has developed habits he or she will carry even after birth.  The baby has definite physical characteristics that identify him or her with mom and dad.
